Begin with the learning objective
An AI tool is useful only if it helps a defined teaching or learning task. A school might explore draft practice questions, alternative explanations or teacher planning. It should first specify the problem, decide what a satisfactory result looks like and compare the tool with existing approaches. A product demonstration alone is not evidence of improved student learning.
Keep teacher review in the loop
Generated explanations and questions can contain mistakes. A teacher should check subject accuracy, language level, bias and alignment with the lesson before use. Students can examine a deliberately labelled sample answer and explain how they would verify it. They should learn that fluent wording is not the same as reliable evidence.
Set boundaries before a pilot
Use school-approved services under their applicable age and account requirements. Avoid entering identifiable student information into an unapproved tool. Explain to families what the pilot involves, who supervises it and what alternatives are available. Establish a clear route for reporting an inappropriate or inaccurate response.
Evaluate, then decide
Run a limited pilot with a defined task and review teacher workload, accessibility, error rates and the quality of student work. Stop or revise activities that create more confusion than value.
